Happy Gilmore 2 Tees Off Premiere at One Times Square

As it prepares for its own next chapter, One Times Square is excited to celebrate Happy Gilmore 2 by doing what it does best – boosting storied emblems into the New York City sky.

On July 13, One Times Square hosted a live activation ahead of the film’s New York City premiere. One Times Square raised a 12-foot-wide Happy Gilmore 2 golf ball high above Times Square at the mast usually reserved for the iconic New Year’s Eve Ball. The golf ball is on display from July 13 through July 22.

The pre-premiere event marked one of the rare times in history that an object other than the New Year’s Eve Ball has been displayed atop One Times Square. Other brand symbols that have been showcased throughout the building’s history include the Hershey's Kiss and the Campbell's Soup Can.

Earlier this year, the latest New Year's Eve Ball, which was on display year-round since 2007, retired, making way for a new design. The next NYE Ball — the eighth in its history — is already underway. The new steel structure of the Ball is currently hidden under the Happy Gilmore 2 golf ball. The new Ball will be unveiled later this year to coincide with the building’s opening as a destination for experiential entertainment and year-round celebrations.
